Hilary Duff reveals the canceled ‘Lizzie McGuire’ reboot plot

Hilary Duff shared something Lizzie McGuire revival would have looked like.

On Tuesday (January 18) the How I met your father Stern spoke Cosmopolitan about what the Disney+ show would have looked like if it had released.

“My character moved home to her parents because she caught her fiancé-to-be cheating on her, and she fell flat on her face at the moment and said, ‘I have to turn because all I thought was was not, and I’ll be 30. What the heck?’” she revealed.

The reboot was announced in August 2019 and the majority of the main cast returned for the series. They ended up filming two episodes before ending in December 2020 creative differences because it was considered too adult. At the end of the day, the creators and the production company couldn’t come to an agreement.

When asked if she ever considered releasing the episodes for fans to enjoy, she confirmed that she did, but obviously has no control over it.

“I’d be lying if I didn’t say a couple of times that I didn’t have those thoughts,” she admitted. “But I wouldn’t because in my 34 years I’ve come to realize that everything happens for a reason. There is a time and a place for everything. It just wasn’t her moment. I still get asked about it all the time. All it does is breathe life into the fact that people still want it, and that’s really sweet. It’s not dead and it’s not alive.”

Fans can relive that Lizzie McGuire Golden days with the original series and Lizzie McGuire movie available to stream on Disney+.
